Insurance will be needed on the Motorcycle to import it and it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to get insurance for any motorcycles in Spain that are not already on Spanish plates or is a UK registered motorcycle. Imports from Germany, Holland and France, and all other European countries, need to be insured in the country of origin.
If you are importing the Harley Davidson or any other motorcycle, local Spanish insurers will not offer any form of insurance until they have been re-registered onto Spanish registration plates. Import duties of about 12% of the Spanish motorcycle valuation, plus the ITV and testing costs on top of that, will be applied to your importation costs.
Always use a proper importation company or Jestor (Lawyer) in Spain to import your vehicle. It can be an arduous process, and always get a written importation quotation. If the Harley Davidson is not as itv came out of the factory, or has a host of wonderful extras, such as special exhaust systems, then additional engineering certificates of road worthiness will be required and in some instances, if it does not have a COC for Europe (a Certificate of Conformity) will not be accepted for importation.
